Ronald Ackerman, 74, of Menan, Idaho, died Sept. 21, 2010, at the Idaho Falls Care Center.

He was born Aug. 30, 1936, in Salt Lake City, to Jack Ackerman and Mary Oreno Ackerman. He attended schools in Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. On Aug. 7, 1958, he married Norma H. Taylor in Menan. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

He worked at Harts Bakery in Idaho Falls and was a journeyman baker. He also worked for Coca-Cola, retiring after 33 years.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Cub Scout leader and Cub master, he also served as second counselor in a bishopric and as a nursery leader.

Ron was a very good father. He loved his grandchildren and he always paid attention to children everywhere he went. He liked singing and drawing, and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and bird hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Norma H. Ackerman of Menan; daughters, Sonya K. (Victor) Noles of Idaho Falls and Chere W. Garland of Menan; a son, Kurt R. (Jenni) Ackerman of Menan; a brother, Richard Ackerman of Idaho Falls; grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Dixon, Kristie (Casey) Ackerman, Chaz Noles, Dezy Roker, Gage Ackerman, Kes Garland, Trevor Noles and Adam Noles; and two great-grandchildren, Kaebree Nebeker and Addie Christensen.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Oreno Ackerman Green; father, Jack Ackerman; and a sister, Darleen Sato.
