REV. DAVID MORSE, 75, DIES AT HOME SOUTHWEST DELWOOD
The Rev. David Morse, 75, residing four miles southwest of Delwood, died at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday. His funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Boulden church northwest of Eddyville and burial will be at Boulden cemetery.
He was a Social Brethren minister, who began his ministerial service in the Presbyterian church, more than 50 years ago. With the late Rev. Mack Wasson, he became very prominent in the Social Brethren church, which had its origin in Saline county in 1867.
He was a powerful worker for the church during the active years of his ministry, which continued until failing health three or four years ago necessitated his retirement.
He was a brother of Sam Morse of Dorrisville and is survived by the latter and by his second wife, Louella Morse, by a daughter, Mrs. Dow (Grace) Lauderdale, St. Louis, and two step-children, Alden Morse, Eddyville and Mrs. Guy Lauderdale, Decatur, and two step-grandchildren who live in St. Louis, Helen and Virginia Morse. His first wife, the former Belle Holloway died 30 years ago.
His funeral will be conducted by the Rev. George Jenkins and the Rev. Bluford Dawson and will be attended by numerous ministers of various denominations and a good many relatives and friends from Saline county.
