Mr. Durhia W. "Dewey" Little, 85, of Westminster, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at his home. He was the husband of Mary Isabelle Royer Little, his wife of 57 years.
Born Oct. 18, 1918, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John W. and Emma Nagel Little. After his family relocated to Westminster, he lived at his residence for 82 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, serving as a pharmacist's mate second class, during World War II.
He was employed at Glenn L. Martin as a toolmaker and retired in 1985 from Brethren Service Center after 22 years as supervisor of the Inter-church Medical Assistance Program.
He also taught adult education classes in furniture refinishing for 22 years. He was a master craftsman in restoring antique furniture.
He was a member of Westminster Church of the Brethren and a member of the Door to Virtue Masonic Lodge 46 of Westminster.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Becky Gillis and husband Charles, and Marilyn Ludwick and husband Rick of Libertytown; grandchildren, Michael, Chris and Theresa Gillis, and Susan and Julie Ludwick; great-grandchildren, Beth and Christopher Gillis; nephews, William L., Leonard G. and Carl R. Little; and cousin, Eleanor Rickert.
He was preceded in death by brothers, William Philip and Lawrence Calvin Little.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the funeral home with Pastors Scott L. Duffey and Larry Broomfield officiating.
Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery.
