Guy W. Owings, 82, of Smallwood, died Friday, Sept 4, 1987, at Hanover Hall, Hanover, Pa., after an extended illness. Born in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Bradford and Ada Nelson Owings and brother of the late Albert and William Owings. He was the husband of Hazel Virginia Owings, who died in 1966.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Smallwood, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1381, Westminster. He was retired from the C & P Telephone Co. after 42 years of service and was a member of the C. & P. Telephone Pioneers.
Surviving are sons Carl G. Owings of New York, N.Y., Neal N. Owings of Hampstead and Wayne B. Owings of Westminster; daughters Phyllis Menchey, Fay Owings and Gayle Shanaberger, all of Westminster; brothers Robert and James Owings, both of Westminster; sisters Mabel Logue of Owings Mills and Myrtle Kauffman of York, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
