He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Smallwood, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1381, Westminster. He was retired from the C & P Telephone Co. after 42 years of service and was a member of the C. & P. Telephone Pioneers.
Surviving are sons Carl G. Owings of New York, N.Y., Neal N. Owings of Hampstead and Wayne B. Owings of Westminster; daughters Phyllis Menchey, Fay Owings and Gayle Shanaberger, all of Westminster; brothers Robert and James Owings, both of Westminster; sisters Mabel Logue of Owings Mills and Myrtle Kauffman of York, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
