Willie enlisted in the Marines 22 October 1965, at a San Antonio Recruiting Office.
Upon arriving in Vietnam, he was assigned to Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Willie died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the body from a hostile explosive device while participating in Operation Macon.
Survived by his mother, Mable Bunte; his 2 brothers, John Franklin and James David Bunte Jr and 3 sisters; Rose Marie, Eva Jeanette and Peggy Joyce Bunte, all of 1928 Albert Drive, Midwest City, OK.
His father: Willie August Bunte was deceased.
