ALMA L. ADCOCK, 94, of 1902 Williams Blvd. SW, died Monday morning in Manor Care. Services 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Central Assembly of God. Burial 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Chariton Cemetery, Chariton. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Ada Gretten of Cedar Rapids; seven sons, John of Chariton, Paul, Donald, Roy and Bob, all of Riverside, Calif., Bill of Tucumcari, N. M., and Philip of Orange, Calif.; and a sister, Therma Cleora of Faribault, Minn.
Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sisters and a brother.
Born Jan. 25, 1898, in Indianola, to Aquilla and Etta Lauck Moon, she married Clem Adcock on Sept. 12, 120, in Des Moines. He died May 27, 1975. Mrs. Adcock lived in Iowa for many years, the last 11 years in Cedar Rapids and previously in Chariton. She also lived in Tucumcari, N. M., and Ontario, Calif.
For many years, she was a licensed minister for the Assembly of God Church, and in service to the Lord, she gave of herself to others, not for personal gain or glory, but as God's faithful servant. God directed her for service to various parts of the country such as teaching Indians on a reservation, starting small churches, working with Hispanics, volunteer preaching where needed, teaching Sunday School, many Bible schools, many years of children's church work, visiting and preaching in nursing homes, taking sick and disabled people to church, reading the Bible through to the blind, always volunteering service to those who were neglected, being God's missionary, with a burning desire to tell others about Jesus. Her life was a sermon to others - of faith, compassion, love and courage. Alma will be greatly missed by her family and many friends everywhere and will be long remembered in each community she lived in.
The Rev. Ramon Booth of Central Assembly of God Church will officiate. Graveside services at Chariton Cemetery will be officiated by the Rev. Earl Kelly. A memorial fund has been established for Central Assembly of God Church, 3030 F Ave., N. W., Cedar Rapids, 52405.
