Hannah was born in NY 13 Mar 1834 to Israel Shepard and Nancy Brown.

Home in 1850 Scipio, Seneca, Ohio, USA

According to her obituary, she was born in Genesee NY. When she was eleven years of age, she moved to Ohio with her parents, and taught school in Republic. She married at age 22 to Daniel B Kroh, who was from Tiffin, which was close to Republic. The couple had three children. Just before the Civil War, the family moved to Michigan, as did her parents. She was a Christian since an early age, and was always ready to help others. She was an active member of the Grange. She was much loved by her friends and family.

In about 1908, she suffered a series of small strokes, that left her paralyzed and helpless.
When she went to arrange for the funeral of Mrs. Dillion (her son's mother in law was Ophelia Parmelee Russell Dillion, who also died in 1914, but the dates do not quite line up to go with this account of two or three days, being closer to two months), she fell onto a stove and was badly burned. For two or three days, she was mercifully unconscious, and then passed away.

Hannah married Daniel Bernard Kroh 13 Mar 1856 in Tiffin, Ohio. She died 1914 in Hillsdale, buried Maple Grove Cemetery, Ransom Twp.

According to her death certificate, she died of paralysis with arteriosclerosis contributing. Father, "Isreal" Shepard, mother unknown.

It also says she was buried in Blount Cemetery, which was another name for Maple Grove.
