Nicholas was born Jan. 31, 1987, to Daniel and Mary Manning Hand. He graduated from Massapponax High School in 2005. He was employed by Fitzgerald Construction. Nick was a very loving and caring person. He always looked out for his sister and his friends.
He is survived by his loving parents and a sister, Brittany Hand. Also surviving are his grandparents, William and Marilyn Hand of Pennsylvania and Eva Lou Kapella of Ohio; his aunts and uncles, Pamela and Michael Sellitto of New York and Jennifer and Allan Beavan of Pennsylvania.; his cousins, Diane, Amanda, Samantha and Stephanie Sellito, Jeffrey, Stephen and Alexander Beavan, and Jud and Bill Towner.
He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents and a cousin, Aaron.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office, Box 124, Spotsylvania, Va. 22553.
