Dana was born in Denver while his father was undergoing medical treatment at the VA hospital there. His parents returned to the Clark farm in Towanda Township when Dana, Sr. was recovered. Junior, as he was called attended school in Towanda. He attended University High School in Normal while living with his grandfather, Oren Clark, in Normal his senior year graduating in 1942. At University he met Beverly Giermann and they were married in 1942.

Dana enlisted April 6, 1943 and was released March 8, 1946. Son, Dana Andrew Clark, III was born in May of 1943 while Dana was in the service.

The year 1947 show him enrolled at Illinois State Normal University.

He married #2 Ila Jo Knox of Oklahoma June 9, 1947. Jo gave birth to 5 children.


Dana went to Michigan State University and received an Agriculture Degree. But he did not want to return to the family farm to work. He became a salesman and sold equipment for corn and wheat. The wheat equipment took him to Kansas for a few years from 1958-1964. He returned to Bloomington and Jo followed with the children still at home. Jo and Dana divorced about 1966 and Dana moved to Chicago until his death in 1983.
