Alice Eugenia Davis Hogue, 86, of 125 Jefferson St., Petersburg, Virginia, died Monday, April 26, 1961 at Petersburg General Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born on September 16, 1874 in Prince George County, Virginia and had made her home in the Petersburg vicinity for the past 20 years. She was the daughter of The late Alfred and Martha Marks Davis.

She married Henry Ward Beecher Hogue on December 28, 1899 at Petersburg, VA.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by one son: Robert Roosevelt Hogue in 1934.

Besides her husband, she was survived by three daughters: Mrs. Anne Louise Hogue Lanius of Petersburg; Helen Gould Hogue Colley (James C.) of Elon College, NC, and Alice Virginia Hogue Ogburn (James J.) of Rural Hall, NC; two sons, Henry Clay Hogue of Washington, D.C., and Roy Wilson Hogue of Petersburg; a sister, Mrs. Anna B. Barnum of Hastings, Michigan; 13 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Her obituary was published in The Progress-Index, Petersburg, Virginia on Thursday, April 27, 1961.
