Laverne Walker Saltzgiver, 86, of Wayne Drive, died at 1:46 P.M. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center following a long illness.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 20, 2010 at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert D. Lawrence and Rev. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville, KY.

A native of Oaklawn, KY she was born June 10, 1924 the daughter of the late Rev. Lonnie Walker and Bessie Culp Walker. She was a payroll clerk at International Shoe Company from 1942-1949. She later served as secretary at Second Baptist Church. She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she served as organist for many years.

Survivors include her husband: Dwain Saltzgiver; a daughter: Sandy Marquess of Hopkinsville, KY; a granddaughter: Paige Dunning; and a great grandson: Kamden Dunning.
