She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Southerland was devoted to her family. She was employed as a substitute teacher at Michigan Avenue School in Bradley County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Cabrera and Frances Ashe Cabrera.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Barry Southerland and son, Christopher Southerland both of Cleveland; two sisters, Carolyn Cassada of Richmond, VA and Tammy Hood of Cleveland; four brothers, David Cabrera of Cleveland, Robert Cabrera of Old Fort, Michael Cabrera and Brian Cabrera both of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Luther Eslinger officiating.
Private interment will be held in Smyrna Cemetery in Polk County.
Her family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
