BEACH - Sister Catherine, 92, Monastery Immaculate Conception, died at 6:20 p.m. EST Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the monastery's Hildegard Health Center. She was born in Greenville, IN on August 28, 1918 to George & Clara (Kiesler) Beach. Surviving are four brothers, Louis Ph.D. of Alexandria, VA, Herman of Greenville, Robert of New Albany, IN and William of Floyds Knobs, IN; a sister, Kathleen Kruer of Greenville; nieces and nephews; and members of her religious community. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Julia Bierman. She entered the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand from Bradford, IN in 1943. She made her temporary vows in 1945 and her perpetual vows in 1948. She taught in Indianapolis, IN, Christ the King in Evansville, IN and Troy, IN. She worked in food services and as a dietitian at Stork Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital in Huntingburg and at the Ferdinand monastery. She also worked in the guest department and other support ministries at the monastery and recently in the ministry of prayer. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. EDT Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the monastery, with a wake service at 7 p.m. EDT Wednesday. Visitation continues on Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 2-4:30 p.m. EDT. The funeral Mass will be at 4:30 p.m. EDT Thursday in the monastery church, followed by burial in the monastery cemetery.
