David 'Davey' Scroggins, 32, a resident of Athens and formerly of Cleveland, passed away Sunday morning in an Athens hospital. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pearl Scroggins, Jim Scroggins, Pete Wooden, Melva Wooden and a cousin, Bobby Scroggins. He was a 1996 graduate of Bradley Central High School and attended Riceville Church of God.
He is survived by: his wife, Kim Lawson Scroggins of Athens; one daughter, Sydney Scroggins of Charleston; his parents, David and Polly Scroggins of Cleveland; one sister, Tammy Scoggins and her husband Lamar of Cleveland; one brother, Daniel Wayne Scroggins and his wife Michelle of Cleveland; three nieces, Shayna Scoggins, Ashley Steele, Shelby Scroggins; special friend, Max Clayton.
A Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Thursday at Jim Rush Funeral Homes, Wildwood Avenue Chapel with Reverend Charles Kilgore officiating. Interment will follow in Samples Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with Daniel Scroggins, Kenny Scroggins, Joseph Scroggins, Wallace Scroggins, Gary Scroggins, Justin Mingie, Tony Wooden and Lamar Scoggins serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Jim Rush Funeral Homes, Wildwood Avenue Chapel who is in charge of the arrangements.
