Douglas L. Pearson, 57, of Byers, went home to be with his Lord and Savioron Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm, Monday, feb 23, 2004, at the Assembly of God Church of Byers, with Rev. James Keenum, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at riverside Cemetery in Byers under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of wichita falls. A son of the late Troyal Emery and Velma (Smith)Pearson, he was born Jan 25, 1947, in wichita Fals. On Dec. 7, 1965, he married Carol rutledge in Waurika, Okla. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy. during his tour in Vietnam, he was awarded the bronze Star for Valor. For the last several years, he has served with the United Sates Air Force Reserve achieving the rank of Master Sargeant. Doug worked at Sheppard air Force Base for eighteen years as chief of the International Military Student Office and most recently as a training manager with the 360th TRS. A faithful member of the Assembly of God Church at Byers, heserved as a deacon and served as a mentor in the local high schools. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Riverside Cemetery association. He was preceded in death by his sister, Yvonne Duckett and his brother Ned Pearson. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, carol Pearson of Byers;daughter, Ginger Seay and husband Alan, of Iowa Park and Cindy Hernandez and husband, Mario of Burkburnett; grandsons, D. J. Seay of Iowa Park and Seth Hernandez of Burkburnett; brother, Eugene Pearson of Wichita Falls; sister, Nina Lacis and husband Jake of Minnesota; brother, Alan Pearson and wife, Cheryl of Edmond, Okla.; also, many nieces and nephews. They family will receive friends 6 until 8 pm, Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls. For those desiring, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Katie's Kids Camp, a camp for children established by and in care of the Assembly of God Church of Byers
