Abby Frances Lyman was the daughter of attorney Isaac Lyman (1775-1824) and his wife Lucretia Pickering (1778-1859). Shortly after Abby's birth, the family moved to York, Maine where Isaac died at only 49. He was buried at York with his parents, after which Lucretia returned with her children to her hometown, Portsmouth. When she died years later, she was buried in this cemetery as indicated below.
Abby married Joseph Gage Sise, a Portsmouth merchant and trader, on Oct 2, 1831. They had four sons and a daughter. In 1856, Abby attended oldest son Albert (then 24) in Boston during several months of recovery fron a serious fever. What toll this took on her isn't known to us but she died just months later.
