Steinway was chairman of the board of Steinway & Sons, piano makers. He joined the firm in 1899 and took over as chairman in 1957. Before that time, he worked as a vice president and director for the company. He was also manager of European operations from 1909-1939 and was largely responsible for developing Steinway sales organizations in major cities around the world.
