Shirley Sue Carothers, age 69, a longtime resident of Granite, Oklahoma, passed away early Sunday morning, August 3, 2014 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Shirley was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on January 5, 1945 to H.A. "Dunk" and Opal Elizabeth Duncan. Shirley Graduated from Mangum High School in 1963. Soon after high school, Shirley married Bobby Jack Carothers on July 24, 1964 in Mangum and they settled in Granite where they raised their family and enjoyed over 32 years of marriage before Bobby's death in 1997. She was a member of the Lake Creek Baptist Church and was Deputy Court Clerk at the Greer County Court House for over 30 years. Shirley loved her family and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and she was very fond of her dog Toby.
Preceded in death by her parents and her husband; Shirley is survived by two sons, Greg Carothers and wife Kelli of Granite and Bryan Carothers and wife Tara of Granite; five grandchildren, Jake, Jayci, Lindsey, Liberty, and Laramie; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Lake Creek Baptist Church in Lake Creek, Granite, Oklahoma with Brother Alvin Funkhouser officiating. Interment will follow at Granite City Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home Granite.
