Funeral Wednesday for Sidney Meyer
Sidney E. Meyer, 80, a Remsen native, died Saturday, Sept., 18, 1982 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. He had resided at Countryside Retirement Home in Sioux City.
Funeral services were at 10:30 am Wednesday, Sept. 22 in St. Luke Lutheran Church, Sioux City. Rev. Ralph Wallin, pastor, and Rev. Myron Herzberg of Remsen, officiated. Burial was in the Remsen city cemetery.
Mr. Meyer was born Nov. 1, 1892 in Remsen. He graduated from Remsen Public School and was an active member of the Remsen baseball team for many years.
His marriage to Amy E. Johnson took place in April of 1917 at Cherokee, Iowa. He was a barber in Remsen until retiring in 1950, at which time the couple moved to Sioux City. He worked part time as a barber in Sioux City. His wife died in Sioux City on June 24, 1975.
Mr. Meyer was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two sons, Robert of Remsen and Milton of Berthoud, Colo.; three grandsons and one great-grandson.
