Carl David Courtney, age 62, of Clifton Avenue, Paris, Kentucky, retired IBM/Lexmark employee, husband of Betty Baker Courtney, died Monday, January 8, 2007, at his home. He was born December 21, 1944, in Paris, a son of the late Charles David Courtney, Sr., and the late Nell Coughlin Snapp, and was a graduate of Paris High School. David attended New Life Ministries, a born-again Christian who loved the Lord with all his heart, and his heart's desire was to see all of his family and friends saved and serving God.

He is also survived by: a son, David Ray (Laura) Courtney; a daughter, Jannette Lynn (Steve) Baker; four stepchildren, Donna Martin, Tommy Baker, Timmy (Karen) Baker, and Janie (Anthony) Gubitz; 11 grandchildren, Matthew Baker, Justin Baker, Stephanie Baker, Alexandria Courtney, Keisha Barnes, Robert Baker, Adam Baker, T.J. Baker, Kassie Gubitz, A.J. Gubitz and Jake Gubitz; a great-grandchild, Chyanne Nichols; five brothers, Charles David (Linda) Courtney, Jr., John Courtney, Jamie (Madonna) Courtney, Jan (Jane Lee) Courtney, Roy (Phyllis) Courtney; five sisters, Debbie (Chet) Coons, Patti (Mike) Jones, Wanda (Tom) Porter, Jo Ann Hill and Mary Nell (Darrell) Stacy; his stepmother, Betty Courtney; two very special aunts and uncles, Ann Pierson and Wayne (Lois) Courtney; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by: his stepfather, Glenn Snapp; and his first wife, Linda Marie Stutts Courtney.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Reverend Anthony Gubitz, with interment at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be Roy Courtney, Jan Courtney, James Courtney, Charles David Courtney, John Edward Courtney, Dwayne Duncan, Chris Boshears and John Stutts. Honorary bearers will be Marshall "Junior" Johnson, Wayne Courtney and Bobby Courtney. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions are suggested to: his church, New Life Ministries; or BGMC (Boys and Girls Missionary Crusade), in care of New Life Ministries, 340 North Middletown Road, Paris, Kentucky 40361.
