HOUSTON - Curtis Leon Barnette, Sr., age 79, died Monday, June 27, 1994 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 29 at Houston Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Houlka with the Rev. Bobby Long and the Rev. L. B. Morris officiaiting. Houston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The son of the late Robert Lester Barnette and the late Erma Lela Johnson Barnette, he was born in Pontotoc County and live most of his life in Houlka. He was a retired employee of the State Highway Department with 20 years of service and was a member of Parkersburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Chrestman Barnette of Houlka; one daughter, Carolyn Cockrell of Houston; four grandchildren, Pam Brunner, Brandi Cockrell, Casei Cockrell and Tim Barnette; two great grandchildren, Joey Brunner and Jason Brunner and three brothers, Lester Barnette of New Albany, ALvis Barnette of Sivilia Lake, MI and Bobby L. Barnette of Chickasaw, AL.

Pallbearers were Doyle McQuary, Derwood McCullough,Gordon Huffman, Bobby Joe McCreight, Sam McCreight and John McCreight.
