Elener M. HendricksElener M. Hendricks, longtime Ponca City resident, died Monday, April 12, 2004, at Integris Hospital in Blackwell after a long illness. She was 79.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Steve Bredesen, Asbury United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.

Elener was born on Aug. 24, 1924, in Ponca City. She was the daughter of George D. and Ethel Pruett Nelson.

On Aug. 11, 1943, she married Albert F. Hendricks in Winfield, Kan., and the couple made their home in Ponca City. She was a homemaker for many years and later worked at Conoco in the cafeteria services. Elener and Albert loved to travel out west as much as possible. Collecting cacti of various types, tropical fish, and Avon bottles were her favorite hobbies. As an avid gardener, she spent endless hours in her flowerbeds both spring and fall. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, one son, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, .

Her husband, parents, five brothers, and one sister preceded her in death.
