STELLA BARRERA ONTIVEROS, 94, passed away, August 20, 2010.She is preceded in death by her husband Peter Paul Ontiveros, Sr. and infant son, Peter Paul Ontiveros, Jr. She is survived by her children, Ruth Fontenot, Peter Paul Ontiveros, Jr., Sylvia Herdejurgen, Gilbert Ontiveros and Robert Ontiveros, sister, Beatrice Contreras and three generations of grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.Stella was born January 31, 1916 in Saratoga, Texas to Julia Procella and Apolonio Barrera. She lived in Sulfur, Louisiana until her family moved to Houston's Sixth Ward in 1927 at age 11. She married Peter Paul Ontiveros Sr. on September 29, 1935 and was happily married for over 34 years until his death on April 28, 1970. In March 1942, Stella and Pete moved to Port Houston with their three children to start Victory Foods, which she helped run for over 30 years. Affectionately referred to as "Mrs. Pete" by customers, she worked along side her family to make the business a success. She was a member of the Port Houston Baptist Church for over 40 years often singing in the choir. A faithful Aggie Mom to her son Gil, she was selected Texas A&M Mother of Year for Houston in 1989 and was proud to claim 15 Aggie nieces, nephews and grandchildren.Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., August 24, 2010 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., August 25, 2010 at Forest Park Lawndale Chapel with burial to follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
