Ricki Devar Long, born 3-3-55 in American Fork, Utah to Wesley Melvin Long and Belva RaNee Long, passed away peacefully 8/12/10 in Provo, Utah following a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Wesley Valene Long. He married his "angel", Karen Lou Rasmussen McFarland 8/13/2003. They lived a lifetime in the short time they were together.

Rick grew up in Orem on his grandfather's orchard property and was educated in Pleasant Grove and graduated from PG High. He was proud to be a spokesperson for Project Read. He was a foreman at his brother Valene's roofing company for many years. He owned his own business restoring cars and was talented at fixing anything. Just before he became disabled he was a maintenance mechanic for Zomax. He loved animals, cars, motorcycles, camping, fishing, movies, and gardening. Karen introduced him to 4-wheeling.

In July 2009 Rick went through the American Fork Temple and was sealed to his family. He was looking forward to being sealed to his wife Karen. Rick's great love was family. Marrying Karen brought him 6 stepchildren and 7 additional grandchildren. He is survived by his children from first wife, Sheri: Janis Jarvis (Danny), Justus Cowley (Kim), children from second wife, Cindy: Gina Skinner (Shane), Ricky Long (Melissa), and Jason Long, seven grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his remaining 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Rick had a talent for "adopting" children and became a friend and father figure to many. He loved kissing babies until they cried and was known for joking and teasing.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful people who cared for Rick during his illness.
