Obed E. Berry 72 of 299 Linden St.,
a retired sergeant of the U.S. Army
with more than 30 years of service, died
yesterday morning at his home after a
long illness.
He served in World Wars 1 and 11.
Born May 7 1886 in Millington, Del.
son of Isaac and Molly (Short) Berry,
he enlisted in the Army on March 2 1907.
and was discharged May 7, 1943. He served
with Battery C, 614th Coast Artillery.
He had been a resident of Pittsfield
14 years.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Nellie
Maluda Berry: a son, John Berry of
Millington, Del., two daughters, Mrs Agnes
Jenson, and Mrs. Dorothy Wells, Hartford
Conn., and several neices and nephews.
Burial is in St. Josephs's cemetery
Pittsfield.
