Son of Richard Coley Williams and Alberta Rhiner. Richard R. Williams, age 80, passed away and into the arms of our Lord on Aug. 6, 2010, at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, FL. Born at Florida Hospital in Orlando on June 9, 1930, he was the brother to Colene Ward of Oviedo. His sister, as well as all that knew him, remember him as an inspiration and a Christian man with a positive outlook, who lived his faith in word and deed. His friends and neighbors referred to him as a "Gentleman", who never had an unkind word to say about anyone.

Growing up he attended the First Baptist Church of Winter Park and later became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Maitland and a Stephen Minister.

In 1948, he graduated from Winter Park High School where he was named "All Conference Quarterback" his senior year. In 1997 he was inducted into the Winter Park High School Sports Hall of Fame for baseball, football and basketball. He graduated from Rollins College where he played 4 years on a baseball scholarship and was a member of the X-Club. He later received his master's degree in physical education at the University of Florida.

He was a high school teacher, football and track coach in Orange and Seminole counties for many years. In 1966, at Seminole High School in Sanford, he distinguished himself as "Track Coach of the Year" by leading his track team to the first ever State Championship for any sport (Class A) in the school's history.

Dick proudly served in the US Air Force, Reconnaissance Unit from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. In 1972, Dick was elected to the Seminole County Board of Commissioners on the platform "Plan Before We Grow." He remained a county commissioner from 1972 to 1980 and was the Chairman from 1976 to 1978. During his tenure, he supported the initiation and adoption of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. In 1980, he started his home building company Dick Williams Homes and won several Parade of Homes awards. Throughout his life, "giving back" to those less fortunate than himself was extremely important. He was involved in many charitable organizations, including the Salvation Army, where he served on the board of the Seminole County Chapter. He was also a member of the Jaycees. In his final years, he dedicated himself and time to the Fresh Start Ministries of Orlando.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of over 54 years, Lamar Harper Williams; daughters Gray Wrisley Gillio and Kerry Lamar Wrisley of Longwood, sons Richard Gregory (Greg) Williams of Altamonte Springs and Kirk Harper Williams (wife JoEllen) of Sanford; grandchildren Steven Michael Palumbo, Jr., of Apopka, Katherine (Katie) Palumbo Ramsey of Longwood, Sarah Nicole Gillio of Orlando, Richard Bradley (Brad) Williams, Cole Gregory Williams and Jenny Nicole Williams of Altamonte Springs; great-grandchildren Kayla Lynn Ramsey and Jocelyn Kay Ramsey of Longwood and his sister Colene Ward of Oviedo.
