Mary Johnston was born Aug. 21, 1858, at Kirby, Ohio. Early in life she married Wm. Ash. To this union a son and daughter were born. The son, David Ash, preceded her in death 35 years ago. The daughter, Cora Ash, now Mrs. Geo. Mason,
of South Boardman. After the death of Mr. Ash she was united in marriage to George Kimes. To this union two sons and two daughters were born. Mr. and Mrs. Kimes had lived in South Boardman about 50 years. Mrs. Kimes had been in failing health for quite awhile, yet her death on Aug. 5, 1943, came rather unexpected. She is survived by her husband, Geo. Kimes, three daughters, Mrs. Cora Mason, of South boardman; Mrs. Lavina Trott, of Cedar Springs; Mrs. Mary Hokenbecker, of Detroit, and two sons, Geo. Kimes, Jr. of Climax, and Belva Kimes of Cadillac; she also leaves nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one brother, Thomas Johnston of Battle Creek. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8th, at the Methodist church in South Boardman with Rev. Alvin R. Ellis officiating. Burial was in Boardman cemetery. -
