August 14, 1919
On July 15, 1919, the death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Dishman and claimed for its own their loving daughter Cordia Etta Dishman. She was 22 years, seven months and eight days old. She professed faith in Christ some years ago and lived a faithful christian to the end.
She had been a sufferer for about two years and everything was done for her that loving hands could do but God saw cause to take her home where she would suffer no more. She was loved by all who knew her and during her suffering she was so patient never to murmur at a pain or ache, just said the Lord's will be done and just a few days before her soul took its flight to Heaven she called her family around her bedside and told them she was ready to go and was just waiting for Jesus to call her and she wanted each one of them to meet her in Heaven. She would often say that her suffering would soon be over, and we don't weep at those that have no hope for some sweet day we expect to meet her where parting is no more.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Nick Alberson after which her body was laid to rest at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery to await the ressurrention morn. She leaves a father, mother, two sisters, four brothers and a host of friends to mourn her death, but our loss is her eternal gain. Written by a friend, Leva Winchester.
