Harold W. Gettle Jr. - JOHNSON CITY
Harold W. Gettle, Jr. 79 passed away Sunday August 8, 2010 at Christian Care Nursing Home in Johnson City.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Logwood (Betty) Gettle and his granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Love. He was a longtime member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church in Roanoke, and was retired from McIllhaney Equipment Co. He was an avid fan of fishing, Nascar and he once built his own motorcycle.
He is survived by his daughter, Luanne Gettle Love and husband, Stephen R. Love, a grandson, Matthew Stephen Love, all of Johnson City, a sister-in-law, Jean Logwood, a nephew, David Logwood, all of Roanoke, a cousin, Bob Gettle, of Columbia, South Carolina.
Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Ave., Roanoke, Virginia, 24018 at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Dr. C. Nelson Harris will officiate. Interment will follow in Fair View Cemetery, Roanoke, Virginia. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. Wednesday till service time at 2:00 P.M. The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to Christian Care Nursing Home and Dr. Alan Forbush.
