415 Squadron's Handley Page Hampden I (#P5301) night bomber aircraft, with an aircrew of four, had taken off from RAF Thorney Island on an air operation. It crashed near Fécamp, France, taking the lives of the four members of the crew.
The airmen who perished when the aircraft crashed were-
RAFVR Flight Sergeant Robert GRAINGER,
RCAF Flight Sergeant Thomas Alfred IVEY,
RAFVR Sergeant Allan MILLICAN and
RCAF Sergeant Ronald Blair MacKENZIE.

Son of Ethel Margaret (née Clark) MacKenzie Chase of Providence, Rhode Island, USA, and the late Samuel Leslie MacKenzie; grandson of Alice E. MacKenzie of Saint John, New Brunswick.

Sergeant Ronald Blair MacKenzie is commemorated on Page 185 of Canada's Second World War Book of Remembrance.
