Nephew of Mrs. Anna Goodbread and brother of Miss. Florence Kline who both resided in Rochester, New York.

John served as a Private in the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He first enlisted in the military service in August, 1938. Shortly after his enlistment term was up he re-enlisted in the Army on September 11, 1941, prior to the war, in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

John was "Killed In Action" in what was known as the Colmar Pocket, Alsace, France during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
