Sgt. Jack Higgins Dies in Action
Brother of Mrs. Ruth Raught of Smethport
Sgt. Jack Higgins, brother of Mrs.
Ruth Raught of Smethport, was killed
in action in France on Nov. 3,
according to a telegram received
from the War Department.
A member of the infantry, Sgt.
Higgins had been overseas 18
months and had received the Purple
Heart for wounds suffered in
Italy in February of this year. He
had seen action in Africa, Sicily,
Italy and participated in the invasion
of Southern France.
Surviving besides Mrs. Raught are
three other sisters, and two brothers.
