Corporal, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army. Entered the service from Texas. Awarded the Purple Heart. Killed in an accident at RAF Station Spanhoe while boarding a C-47 before D-Day when a Gammon grenade was dropped in his aircraft. This set off a number of other grenades and killed two other paratroopers besides Corporal Vaught; 15 were wounded, including the C-47's radio operator.
