Private Walter P Olson, Service Number: 36965276, 505th Parachute Infantry Regt, 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army, was killed in action on 29 Jan 1945, in Holzheim, Belgium, during "an assault in the face of direct artillery shelling and harassing fire from the right flank." Olson was killed when he was hit in the head by an artillery shell fragment. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
