Linda Mae Austin Conwill, 52, a former Klamath Falls, Oregon resident, died Jan. 21, 1995, at her Chico, Calif., home after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Conwill was born to William and Geraldine Hendrick Austin in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Before moving to Dunsmuir, Calif., in 1959, she attended elementary and high schools and was a member of the Klamath Union High School symphonic orchestra, Horizon Camp Fire Girls and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She graduated from Dunsmuir High School and also was a runner up in a Miss Dunsmuir Railroad Days Pageant, in which she won the Miss Congeniality Award.

She was married Jan. 27, 1961, to James Conwill.

Mrs. Conwill was employed as a telephone operator for several years and was a member of Sigma Phi Chapter of Dunsmuir, WBIC Women's National Bowling Association and the Tournament Bridge Club.

The couple later moved to Chico, where Mrs. Conwill was employed as a telephone operator and later in supermarkets. Prior to her illness, she was the front-end manager for a new Food-4-Less supermarket.

With her support group in Chico, she was active in raising $20, 000 for ALS research and did all she could to promote public awareness of the disease.

Mrs. Conwill enjoyed travel and the outdoors and was a catcher on a women's softball team in Chico.

Survivors include her husband, James, Chico; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Dick Ondrocek, Yuba City, Calif., and Stacy and Ben Ancheta, Dunsmuir; mother, Geraldine Austin, Klamath Falls; sisters, Barbara Giacomelli, Yreka, Calif.; granddaughters, Rachel and Hannah, both of Yuba City, and Megan and Barbara, both of Dunsmuir; sister-in-law and her hsuband, Becky and Joe Huckaba, Klamath Falls; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Austin, Nov. 21, 1987, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dorothy and Morgan Cornwill.
