Died during the 1918 flu epidemic leaving two small children behind.
As told my mother Ora Shaw Mitchell:
Ora was told that her mother, Etta went to nurse her mom (Liddie Williams) and her siblings still living at home when they had the flu. Etta came back to her mother-in-law's house (Mary Jane Gantt Shaw) and Etta came down with the flu. The doctor came to the house and saw Etta and her young daughter Ora in the bed together and said that Ora would probably be the next flu victim. Etta died of the flu in her mother-in-law Mary Jane's home. Bryant Wilson Shaw and his two small children Ora and Odis then moved in the home of Mary Jane until Bryant's second marriage to Georgia James. Zanetta Mitchell Perry
