Henderson H. Harrell was the son of Byrum Harrell & Sarah (Sally) Oldham Pertle.

He married twice: He married Margra Williams on December 09, 1841 in Shelby County, Indiana and Matilda Andrews on November 10, 1864, also in Shelby County. Believed to have had 9 children by his first wife. Some of them were:

Mary Edie Harrell b: ABT 31 MAR 1844
William L. Harrell b: 7 OCT 1851
Eva Green Harrell b: AUG 1856
Irena Harrell b: ABT 10 AUG 1859

The Shelby Democrat of Thursday April 17, 1879, p. 2, col. 6 reported,
"DIED—On the 10th day of April, 1879, in this city, of consumption, Mr. Henderson H. Harrell.

The Shelby Volunteer of Thursday April 17, 1879,
"DIED—HARRELL-On Wednesday, April 16, 1879, at 10:30 a.m. of consumption, in this city, Henderson H. Harrell. The funeral will leave the late residence on Thursday, April 17th, at 1:30 o'clock p.m. The remains will be interred in the Brandywine graveyard."

The Shelby Democrat of Thursday April 24, 1879, p. 3, col. 1:
"Mrs. Matilda Harrell desires to return thanks to all those who were so kind to her during the illness and since the death of her husband, the late Henderson H. Harrell."
