HANOVER - Curtis David Jones, 102, entered God's Eternal Care, Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at the Lutheran Home at Utz Terrace. He was the loving husband of the late Mildred S. (Miller) Jones, who preceded him in death on October 24th, 1992 and Grace (Garrett) Jones who died in 1946.
Born August 17, 1907, in Bachman Valley, Carroll County, Westminster, Md., he was the son of the late Charles Henry and Estella L. Suzanna (Mathias) Jones.
Curtis retired from Keystone Wire Cloth in December 1973 after forty-eight years of service, where he worked as a weaver and a helper.
Curtis was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hanover, and belonged to the local A.A.R.P. Chapter 669.
Curtis is survived by a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Frock, of Hanover; one stepson, James E. Kelbaugh, of York; six step-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and two step greatgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marian L. Frock; one step-daughter, Shirley K. Stonesifer; two brothers, Oscar G. Jones and Vernon Jones; and one sister, Mary Bankert.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Curtis' life will be held 10 a.m. Monday, August 9, 2010, at Grace United Methodist Church, 55 Albright Drive, Hanover, with Pastor Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, as well as from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
