Entered Officers Training School at Fort Sheridan, Illinois in May 1917. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant. Stationed at Camp Custer, Michigan; Camp Greene, North Carolina; and Camp Mills, New York. Embarked overseas in December 1917; assigned to Company G, 305th Infantry, 77th Division. Killed in action on November 1, 1918 at Argonne Forest. Buried where he fell. Died at age 25 years, 7 months, 5 days. Time in service: 1 year, 6 months.
