Rank: U.S. Navy. Son of Amos and Bertha E. Van Horn (deceased); born July 17, 1900, Richmond, Ind. Machinist. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy February 19, 1917, St. Louis, Mo. (Service record incomplete.) Lost his life September 30, 1918, when the U.S. transport Ticonderoga was torpedoed by enemy submarine in mid ocean. Body never recovered.
