Pfc Doyle K. Jackson attended Wilson High School for three years and was a carpenter apprentice before he enlisted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 24 November 1942.
Pfc Jackson was probing enemy lines, operating a machine gun mounted on the rear of a Jeep. His patrol ran into a machine gun blockade. He did not need to expose himself but being new to combat, he was inexperienced and had little chance to learn to protect himself. He was hit and died within a few hours.
