Jim made people smile with his outrageous humor and loving kindness. His phone calls, postcards, and special "Jim Care Packages" were well known. Recipients ranged from the soldiers in Iraq to an amazing number of family and friends extending as far as cloistered nuns in Wisconsin. He was often seen at the nursing home in Mesquite visiting with his dogs. For over 30 years he was well known in the time share industry. He served two tours in Vietnam and returned to visit three times as a friend.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Allen; his mother, Armella Kowalski; his sister, Gail Lamberty; his niece and nephew, Lois and Larry Jensen; his stepdaughter, Wendy Caldwell and her husband, Dan; and his stepson, Dr. Todd Hafner and partner, Kyle. His step grandchildren, Jamie Winn (Trevor), Chantelle Peavler (Jeremy), Bryce, Colten, and Paisley Olsen, and Kaden and Trey Caldwell, brought him much delight.
His wide range of friends will miss him. All are invited to a memorial celebration of Jim's jokes and joy at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at 601 Summit, in Mesquite.
