When she was 4 years old her mother died in childbirth devastating the family. Her father gave the children to family members to raise and died in 1912 when he was working as a laborer in Great Falls, Montana.
Graces siblings were: Elizabeth "Bessie", Aloysious "Allie", and Emmett.
Grace's maternal grandfather - Peter Benjamin Nelson also lived in Walsh. After her mother's death she was sent to live with Peter's daughter Tressa "Nellie" Nelson and her husband Myron Fuller. They were childless and she was raised as their daughter in Barnesville, Clay, Minnesota and then the family moved to Orlando, Florida after she graduated from school.
When she was 40 she married Edwin Joseph Wentz on 16 Jan 1936 at the Church of St. James in Orlando, Orange, Florida.
Although throughout her life she lived in different states, she remained in touch with her siblings. Her brother Allie never married, but Grace remained in touch with the children of her brother Emmett and was especially close to the Frank and Charles Miles, the orphaned children of her oldest sister "Bessie" who died in 1918 at the age of 28.
