Abby was born March 30, 1907 in South Williamsport, he was a son of Hope and Alfretta Childs Abernatha.
Abby founded Abby Signs in 1936 and was owner and operator until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lucy Williams Abernatha and his second wife Beatrice Kimble Abernatha, a daughter-in-law Linda Abernatha, and a son-in-law Woodrow Crist.
Surviving are two children, William T. Abernatha Jr. of Linden and Ruth Crist Auerbach of Beverly Hills, Fla.; five grandchildren, Karen Ciccarelli (Francis) of Williamsport, Gwen Hanner (Martin) of Jersey Shore, Dawna Lorson (Dennis) of Bastress, Debbie Crist of Beverly Hills, Fla., Woodrow Crist of Williamsport; nine great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
William T. Abernatha Sr., 103, also known as "Abby," formerly of Lycoming Creek Road, and currently residing at the Williamsport Home, died Saturday, July 31, 2010.
