Mrs. Abel Dies On Visit Here

Final rites for Mrs. Gertrude Long Abel, 65, will be held at Brown's Chapel Saturday at 11 a.m. Mrs. Abel died Thursday night during a visit with her sister, Mrs. Corin Long Griffin, 503 Ninth Avenue West.

She had been visiting in Decatur for the past five weeks. Mrs. Abel had been a Birmingham resident for the past 25 years. Born in Danville on October 24, 1894, she was the daughter of S.T. and Mattie Long. She was the wife of the late C.E. Abel Jr.

The funeral will be conducted by Rev. Clark of Birmingham. Burial in the city cemetery will be directed by Brown's.

Mrs. Abel is survived by a son, S.T. Abel of Birmingham and a sister, Mrs. Griffin of Decatur.

Pallbearers will include O.D. Coston, R.M. Coston, O.L. Coston, Ham Hollingsworth, T.C. Longshore, and Harold Hay, all of Birmingham.

Gertrude Long Abel, of Birmingham, died November 3, 1949, of a heart attack. She was born October 24, 1882 in Danville, Alabanma.

She was the widow of the late C.E. Abel and the daughter of S.T. Long.

Buried at Decatur Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. Informant was S.T. Abel, son, of Birmingham.
