U.S. ARMY, KOREAN WAR. BRONZE STAR, SILVER STAR.
Son of Paul E. and Alma M. (Carmitchel) Allender and husband of Dorothy M. (Jones) Allender. They were married 48 years and had 4 children. He was the former Chief of Police in Allentown, PA from 1978 to 1982 serving over 28 years on the police force. He became a detective in May, 1957 and was promoted to Class A detective in 1960. A year later, he became a lieutenant. In the 1970s, he served as a training officer and in 1973 he was promoted to captain to oversee all patrol officers.
He was a life member of the Manchu Association, 9th Infantry Regiment, and a charter member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2124, Allentown. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of New Temple Lodge 720 and the Lehigh Consistory, both of Allentown. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Hogans and the Fearless Fire Company, all of Allentown.
