Esta Lee Rushing, 98, of Modesto died Wednesday at Colony Park Care Center.
Mrs. Rushing was a native of Brooken, Okla. She had lived in Modesto since 1940. She was a newspaper reporter in Enid, Okla.; she traveled by horse and wagon to gather news. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was active in Navy Mothers of Modesto during World War II.
She is survived by one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Acacia Memorial Park. Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Remembrances may be made to Community Hospice, 601 McHenry Ave., Suite C, Modesto 95350.
