Dr. Warren Jones Copeland was in the 34th TN General Assembly 1865, representing Meigs, McMinn and Polk Counties. He was the son of John and Juda Chapman Copeland and attended school at Benton and Zion Hill; Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, and taught school in early life. He practiced medicine in the 3rd District of Polk County for 56 years.

Warren was married 24 February 1863 to Onie McClary Pendergrass, daughter of Robert W. and Mary McClary and they were parents of ten children: Alice, Onie, R. Meigs, J. Vel, Flint D., George, J.J., Agnew, Clara and Boivim.

He was Superintendent of Public Institution for Polk County for two years, a member of the Missionary Baptist Church; Master Mason; Knights of Honor; enlisted in the Civil War 1861 and served as surgeon with the 5th Tennessee C.S.A.
