Deceased Name: LEON REED MCCORKLE
LEON REED MCCORKLE, 70, of Colorado Springs died Wednesday at Evans Army Hospital. He had served as a member of the U.S. Army before retiring with the rank of staff sergeant.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Ave. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Swan-Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Ave. Burial with full military honors will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
Mr. McCorkle was born April 2, 1920, in Charlotte, N.C., to Robert and Mary (Smith) McCorkle, who preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years. Mr. McCorkle had been a resident of the area for 26 years. He was a member of American Legion Chapter 5, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4051, Retired Enlisted Association Chapter 1 and the Lost Chord Club.
Mr. McCorkle was married July 22, 1963, in Seoul, Korea, to Cha Lu Kim, who survives. He also is survived by two sons, Capt. Billy McCorkle of Chico, Calif., and Reed McCorkle of Colorado Springs; one daughter, Audrey Ramirez of Colorado Springs; and one grandchild.
