Elizabeth was the daughter of James Davidson and Sarah Phillips Parkes. Elizabeth married Jehu Barnes on August 3, 1843. To this union 9 children were born.Five boys and 4 girls. She operated an inn where travelers could get a meal and room for the night. She was a great reader of the Bible. Jehu and Elizabeth thought that Jesse and Frank James stopped with them for the night. They had guns and belts. One of the children sat on Jessie's lap and touched his guns. Jehu and Elizabeth were afraid to ask any questions.
